Table of Contents

In this video, I demonstrate how to efficiently generate a single overlay.png file from a PSD file obtained from photoboothtemplates.com. I guide through steps like opening the template.psd file, minimizing layer groups, hiding specific layers, selecting areas, inverting selections, and applying layer masks.

Steps #

  1. Open the PSD File
    • Open the template.psd file from photoboothtemplates.com.
  2. Minimize Layer Groups
    • Minimize each layer group by clicking the arrow next to it.
    • Hide the top two layers.
  3. Select the Photo Spots
    • Hold down the control/command button and left-click on the thumbnail of the photo spots layer.
    • Go to Select and choose Inverse to invert the selected area.
  4. Apply Selection to Background Layer
    • Highlight the background layer group.
    • Click on the layer mask at the bottom of the layers panel.
  5. Export as PNG
    • Hide the photo spots layer group to reveal the transparent area.
    • Export the file as a PNG for use in a Photobooth app.
